This sundial is an antique reproduction of a universal equinoctial sundial with leveling pendulums and internal magnetic compass. The compass allows fast alignment of azimuth to North and features a needle lift mechanism to protect the jeweled bearing when being transported. The sundial can be adjusted to your local latitude. This sundial features three leveling screws that can be adjusted to ensure that the sundial frame is level. The sun's shadow cast by the sundial's gnomon onto the linear 15 degree per hour scale equatorial band marks the local time. The three parameters that affect the accuracy of a sundial are the azimuth, latitude of the instrument, and level. This beautiful instrument is made of antique patina solid brass and the hours and months are identified by black Arabic numerals. The body of the sundial is 4 1/2 inches (11.4 cm) wide, 7 inches (17.8 cm) high and 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) deep and the sundial weighs 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram).
