The rum measure cup measures 3.25 x 2 x 2.25". For over 300 years, the many navies of the world served daily rum rations. The rum barrel was rolled out each day to the scuttlebutt near the main hatch. Under armed guard, and using the standard size cup, the ships purser served sailors from one to six tots of rum, depending on the conditions of war and weather. The tradition continued until the 1950's. Decorated with the stylized crown and anchor of the British navy. Handmade in copper and brass, silver-plated inside. The item comes gift packaged.
