This sextant is expertly crafted from solid brass and an antique patina is applied so it looks like a 115-year old antique. If you plan on handling the sextant much, you'll really appreciate how the antique finish does not show fingerprints or require polishing. The sextant has an accurately divided German Silver scale, and a gear driven slow motion control. A powerful magnifier can be swung into position to assist in reading the vernier scale. The sextant's telescope has polished glass lenses and produces a sharp magnified non-inverted image. There are six dark tinted swing-arm filters with heavy brass filter mounts. On the back of the sextant is a comfortable brass handle. The sextant comes with a beautiful felt-lined solid hardwood case. The sextant is 7.5" tall, 8.5" wide, and 3.5" deep. The sextant weighs 2.5 lbs, the felt lined hardwood case weighs an additional 2.8 lbs. While this sextant is fully functional, it is not calibrated and is not intended for navigation.
