This premium quality 6.5" radius sextant is a beautiful full scale reproduction of the venerable C. Plath micrometer drum brass sextant which is regarded as the "Rolls Royce" of nautical sextants. Each sextant has a unique serial number stamped on the handle. The sextant measures 9.25" wide and 9.5" tall, and 5" deep (not including the telescope). The sextant weighs 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and the sextant with the hardwood case weighs 8.9 lbs. There are six swing-arm filters. The telescope has a large objective lens and produces a very bright and clear erect image. There are a pair of levers that when squeezed pull the micrometer pinion away from the ground rack, allowing fast large angular movements of the index arm. Mirror adjustments can be made using three inset adjustment screws. On the back of the sextant is a hardwood handle. The sextant comes with a beautiful felt-lined hardwood case. While this sextant is fully functional, it is not calibrated and not intended for navigation.
