Weather Glasses were used commonly around the early 16th and 17th
centuries. Weather Glasses are barometers that will accurately forcast the
weather. Bad or stormy weather means low pressure and is indicated by the
rising of the water in the weather glass spout from 4 to 12 hours in
advance. Sunny or fair weather means high pressure and is indicated by the
falling water in the weather glass. Blue and red food coloring is
sometimes added to the water to give the weather glass a more attractive
look.
